IC INFO;

CHARACTER NAME: Riza Hakweye
CANON & HISTORY: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
AGE: late 20s, early 30s.
CANON POINT: Post-Canon, just beginning the rebuilding effort in Ishval.
PERSONALITY:
Riza Hawkeye started off her first few years of her military service a very different girl. She was idealistic, determined, driven but also very sure of her place in the world and what she was doing was good. The war changed that, as it does most things. The military's part of the war was as killers, massacring entire populations of people for the sake of their 'rule', and like many soldiers at the time, Riza came to realize exactly what it was she was doing, and what it meant.

The blood of thousands sit on her shoulders, and she believes - now - that it is her duty out of respect for those lives that she carries on, remembers, and works to better herself from it.

The Riza Hawkeye that exists today has matured. She comes across as fairly quiet, collected, confident, serious, and professional, and upon first meeting - generally a good soldier. She takes orders, completes her mission, and files the paperwork efficiently and properly. Because of this, she has gotten something of a hardass reputation among the rest of the military, and is often tasked with keeping both her peers and her superiors in line. And she is quite adept at that - for all her discipline and extreme amounts of rationalization, she is curteous and polite, and rarely (if at all) drops formalities around those who she works with.

Because of this, her reputation is generally that of a hard-ass, but anyone who has worked alongside Riza knows better than to think she is that surface level. Because while yes, she is demanding of excellence and pushes her team harder than they would probably like to be pushed, it is only done out of respect and love for the people who she works with. Very much the personification of 'tough love', Riza is kind and caring, though the way she expresses that is only through the most subtle ways. She is a woman with a stern hand and demanding nature, tempered with genuine and deep affection. Because she is much softer, especially with children and animals, and that side of her can sometimes be seen. Her superior, Roy Mustang, would argue that her softness is obvious, but Riza tends to ignore him as that is filed under a lot of other teasing comments he constantly leaves her. All in all, Riza's quiet nature is a lot of times misconstrued, where the truth of the matter is that she simply isn't one to express feelings through words or in general speak unnecessarily. Most of her thoughts are revealed through subtle, nonverbal communication, such as sharp looks and very rare, soft smiles.

What used to be an innocent, sometimes timid idealism was very quickly transformed into a willful, stoic woman prepared to shoulder the heavy burden of the acts she completed and their consequences. She then uses this as motivation to stand up for what she believes in, and the people she believes in, in a desperate hope that future generations will not have to experience and survive the horrors of what she's already done. Her character shows a mix between a tortured woman looking for redemption she feels is unreachable, and a resigned acceptance of past mistakes and their consequences. Despite the emotional difficulties in facing her mistakes, she learns to school herself and her emotions as personal struggles, brushing off the concern of others, always bearing grief or physical pain with a stiff upper lip.

POWERS: While Riza Hawkeye has a few key abilities that are of note (incredible marksmanship, the ability to deal with one (1) Roy Mustang, etc.) she has no true powers to speak of.
OTHER: Nothing of extraordinary value but Colonel Roy Mustang would absolutely be dead if it weren't for her.

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: Power Augmentation. The user can enhance the powers of others' so that they can reach high level mastery and control instantaneously, even reach a level of power that is usually beyond their limits alone. Users cannot steal or give power, only enhance the ones their targets already have. As she learns to harness this more, the distance between her and the target- for example, starting off it will be touch-base only, but as time and practice goes on, she may be able to stand some distance away. Additionally, depending on her mastery of her ability, it may take more or less of her own energy to work, which could have harmful side effects to her body. Also if she isn't careful, amplifying another's powers could be potentially harmful to the target themselves.
PRICE: When Riza was younger, her father tattood the secret to Flame Alchemy across her back. After seeing the effects of the war, and what that alchemy could do, Riza begged her superior - Roy Mustang - to destroy it, to burn it off of her. Since then she has lived with the partial answer to flame alchemy and the massive scarring caused by the burns across her back, a constant reminder not only of the things she's done, but as a motivational force to keep going. It is, in a lot of ways, the physical manifestation of what she considers the burden she has been tasked to carry across her back.
ACCLIMATION: 8 | Riza Hawkeye has spent her life adapting to 'impossible' situations. She lives in a world that involves a level of 'magic' (alchemy) that she does not understand fully, but she can accept and live with. As much as she may not understand, fully, the idea of this place and alternate dimensions and powers to this scale, she will not let it stop her in any way. She is much more of a how do we deal with this type of person, rather than a how is this working? She will adapt to survive, and she will figure out how to approach and deal with what comes after. No matter what.
